My redesign of the UNICO brand packaging focused on elevating its visual identity to appeal to younger, quality-conscious suburban families while authentically connecting to its Mediterranean heritage. We moved away from the dated bright yellow and red, introducing a refined color palette of deeper blues, creams, and warm tones, complemented by botanical-style illustrations to subtly reference tradition and communicate a more crafted, premium feel. While retaining the recognizable UNICO logo for brand recognition, we updated the surrounding typography and layout to improve readability and on-shelf hierarchy, signaling contemporary quality and confidence. Crucially, the redesign incorporates subtle visual storytelling, including traditional borders and background illustrations, to hint at the culinary and cultural tradition behind the brand, establishing an emotional connection that was absent in the previous design. Overall, the updated aesthetic balances tradition with modern expectations, successfully transforming the brand's look to align with its heritage-driven claims, making it feel more authentic, approachable, and premium in a competitive grocery market.
